Language Gathering and Sharing Grants

December 4, 2018
FPCC is excited to announce NEW funding for Language Gathering and Sharing!

We are now offering grants for language-focused gatherings that bring together First Nations communities and organizations in British Columbia to share about their current and future language revitalization projects and plans. The grants may be used for formal or informal gatherings with two or more communities or organizations that have the same language, for the purpose of sharing information and resources and forming positive relationships for language revitalization.

The purpose of these grants is to support you to get together with your neighbours to share your successes in language work and talk about language. FPCC recognizes that high travel costs and a lack of funds for meeting expenses can be a barrier for multi-community meetings. This funding is intended to support you to showcase your successful language projects and strategies, share resources and form informal and formal language alliances with other communities that share the same language. These gatherings should foster positive language-focused relationships that will support collaboration and collective language planning.

Timeline: The current funding call is for gatherings that will happen between December 2018 and March 31, 2019.
Language Sharing & Collaboration Grants will be available in the coming fiscal year under a separate grant cycle.

Deadline: Eligible applications will be funded in the order in which they are received until the project fund is expended for the current year.
January 31, 2019 is the last date that applications will be accepted for funding in the current fiscal year.
Projects that are funded in the current fiscal year MUST be completed and reported on by April 30th, 2019.

Funding Amounts: Funding requests should be between $2,500 - $15,000.
