NEW! Indigenous Arts Scholarship - Call for Application Submissions

First Peoples' Cultural Council and the BC Arts Council realize the importance of supporting Indigenous arts education and are proud to announce the NEW! Indigenous Arts Scholarship. 

This new program supports the development of First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit artists and arts practitioners residing in B.C. with funding for training in the arts. This is the first FPCC program to support full-time students pursuing arts education through either post-secondary OR mentorship training. 

We are currently accepting applications online through the FPCC Grant Portal

The deadline to apply is April 15, 2020.

The objective of the Indigenous Arts Scholarship:
  • Pursue arts training through an accredited institution.
  • Pursue arts training through mentorship with an established artist of their choosing. 
  • Increase knowledge, skill development and opportunities for artists and arts practitioners.
Eligible applicants must:
  • Identify as First Nations (status or non-status), Inuit, or Métis.
  • Be 17 years of age or older.
  • Be a current resident of B.C. and have resided in B.C. for at least one year. 
  • Applicants may attend any institution outside of B.C., as long as they remain full-time residents of B.C. for the duration of their program or mentorship. 
  • Have previous experience that demonstrates a commitment to their artistic practice. 
  • Be accepted to an accredited institution OR partnered with an established mentor. 
  • Not receive a BC Arts Council Scholarship in the same year.
  • Carefully review the program guidelines for additional eligibility requirements. 
Funding amounts:
  • Post-Secondary arts education up to $10,000 per calendar year.
  • Mentorship based arts education up to $20,000 per calendar year.
